This is a list of islands An island or isle (/ˈaɪl/) is any piece of sub-continental land that is surrounded by water. Very small islands such as emergent land features on atolls can be called islets, cays or keys. An island in a river or lake may be called an eyot, /ˈaɪ.ət/. A grouping of geographically or geologically related islands is called an archipelago of the Republic of China The Republic of China , commonly known as Taiwan, is a state in East Asia comprising the islands of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu and other minor islands located off the east coast of mainland China. Neighbouring states include the People's Republic of China (PRC) to the west, Japan to the northeast, and the Philippines to the south (Taiwan) administration (islands not administered but which are claimed by the ROC are not included on this list). The list is organized by major island groups. Kinmen
- Kinmen Kinmen , also known as Quemoy, is a small archipelago of several islands administered by the Republic of China (ROC): Greater Kinmen (大金門), Lesser Kinmen, and some islets. Administratively, it is Kinmen County of Fukien Province, Republic of China. The county is claimed as part of Fujian's Quanzhou Prefecture by the People's Republic of (Quemoy; 金門島) (Kinmen County, Fukien Province)
- Lesser Kinmen Lieyu or Lesser Kinmen is one of the islands of the Kinmen group. It is in the Taiwan Strait, on the coast of Fujian. Geographically it is very near to Xiamen (Amoy). Administratively the island forms the Lieyu Township (烈嶼鄉) the Kinmen County of the Fuchien Province of the Republic of China. Matsu Islands

- Pratas Islands The Pratas Islands or Dongsha Islands consists of three islands located in northeastern South China Sea, 340 km (211 mi) southeast of Hong Kong. The People's Republic of China asserts sovereignty over these islands along with all other territories currently controlled by the Republic of China (Tungsha, Dong-sha; 東沙群島)
- Spratly Islands The Spratly Islands are a group of more than 750 reefs, islets, atolls, cays, and islands in the South China Sea between the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, and China. They comprise less than four square kilometers of land area, spread over more than 425,000 square kilometers of sea. The "Cross Harbor Tunnel" (Chinese: 過港隧道) connects the Qijin Island at the southern tip to the rest of, Kaohsiung Kaohsiung is a city located in southwestern Taiwan. It is enclosed by Kaohsiung County, and faces the Taiwan Strait on the west. Kaohsiung, officially named Kaohsiung City, is divided into eleven districts. The city is one of two special municipalities under administration of the Republic of China (also known as Taiwan), which grants it the same.
