Ownership is the state or fact of exclusive rights and control over property, which may be an object, land/real estate or intellectual property. Ownership involves multiple rights, collectively referred to as title, which may be separated and held by different parties. The concept of ownership has existed for thousands of years and in all cultures. Over the millennia, however, and across cultures what is considered eligible to be property and how that property is regarded culturally is very different. Ownership is the basis for many other concepts that form the foundations of ancient and modern societies such as money, trade, debt, bankruptcy, the criminality of theft and private vs. public property. Ownership is the key building block in the development of the capitalist socio-economic system. The process and mechanics of ownership are fairly complex since one can gain, transfer and lose ownership of property in a number of ways. To acquire property one can purchase it with money, trade it for other property, receive it as a gift, steal it, find it, make it or homestead it. One can transfer or lose ownership of property by selling it for money, exchanging it for other property, giving it as a gift, being robbed of it, misplacing it, or having it stripped from one's ownership through legal means such as eviction, foreclosure, seizure or taking. Ownership is self-propagating in that the owner of any property will also own the economic benefits of that property. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License How to impress a foster owner of a dog? Q. I am 16 (girl) and and my family is planning to get a retriever from a woman who fostered her (the dog). The woman is a part of a rescue group, so she is "safe". We are visiting her next week to see if we like the dog, and if the owner likes us (though we've agreed to get the dog unless she is really mean). We have a cat, so we already have that going against us. Is there a certain way I should dress or act to impress the owner? Any tips? Thank you! PS- the dog is 1 year old and our cat is 3. One thing that I love to hear is that the potential adopter has done some research on the breed type that they are applying to adopt (like common genetic issues, energy level/exercise requirements, grooming needs, etc.). It shows you re really putting in the effort and are learning as much as you can prior to bringing the dog home. Also, think about things like where the dog will sleep (in a crate, in your bed, gated in a particular room), also how long will the dog be left alone each day and where will it stay when alone, and what schedule you are planning for the dog (meal and walk times, etc). Often fosters will ask those things. Mostly… [cont.] Answered by MB - Wed Apr 7 22:37:38 2010 How does a restaurant owner recover his money from a non payee? Q. I know that if you don't pay your restaurant bill you are required to wash the dishes to make up your cost. However, since the other dishwashers are still employed and therefore getting their salaries, how does the restaurant owner recover his money? I have never been able to figure that out. I am sure some restaurants have some type of insurance or back-up to support "loss" of this type. Answered by Angela B - Sat Jan 20 15:24:15 2007 How does purchase from owner work in real estate?
Q. We looked at a new home whose builder is the owner and seller. Is it possible to get a good deal if you buy from the builder/owner vs a realtor? I thought the realtor helped to bargain and get the buyer the best deal. Who draws up the offer letter in the case of purchase from owner? I'm new to this. Asked by af - Sun Jul 8 01:40:35 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. No, a Realtor can't negotiate a lower sales price. You won't necessarily get a better deal by not using one, because the Realtor fees are typically paid by the seller. However, a Realtor can help you understand the fine print of a sales contract. Without a Realtor, any sales agreement between a buyer and seller is legal and binding--you don't need any special forms. However, I would have a real estate attorney review the sales contract.
